Pre-Intermediate A Cooking Class

We had a wonderful cooking class with all students making delicious dishes from all over the world including Japanese sushi and curry, Swiss macaroni, French crepes with banana and chocolate and Taiwanese egg soup.

We had a lovely lunch together and ate a lot.

Cambridge Graduation

All good things must come to an end and so we had to say goodbye to the Cambridge classes of September 2011.
In true BBELS style we ended the course with a BBQ at Clarke’s beach and a graduation ceremony.

This year we had the First Certificate (FCE) in English class taught by Robin, Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) taught by Frank and Lisa and Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) taught by Frank and Deborah.

It was a bit windy at Clarke’s however; everybody had a great time with plenty of sausages to go around

Yesterday our two intrepid CPE students were chauffeured to Brisbane for the first ever CPE speaking exam for BBELS. They were quietly confident with the exam.

Yesterday we also had the speaking exams for FCE at the school. The students were nervous however, the examiners were very nice.

Today CAE is doing a filmed mock speaking exams.
Tomorrow is the speaking exams for CAE. We have our fingers crossed that all the Cambridge students will do well.
This Friday we are having a graduation and BBQ spectacular at the Pass to say good luck and goodbye.

Did somebody say paella?

Upper-Intermediate B was treated to an amazing lunch this week.
Carlos, from Spain, cooked paella that was big enough to feed the whole class, with lots of leftovers.
Not to be outdone there were dishes from Japan, Korea, Switzerland, Brazil and France.

Elementary Cooking Class

In the Elementary class we have students from Spain, Italy, Korea, Switzerland, Japan and Taiwan. What better way to learn about other countries than through their cuisine (style of cooking). The Elementary class got their hands dirty and made some fantastic dishes especially the gyoza that Debby from Taiwan made. The students all spoke English, making it a great day.

Cambridge Proficiency in English at BBELS

BBELS has started an afternoon CPE course for two of our new students. Wouter and Suzanne are two very high level students who want to take both the CAE and the CPE course. In the afternoon they have lessons with Frank, where he teaches them the finer points of the English language. Cambridge English: Proficiency, also known as Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), is the most advanced exam, for learners who have achieved an extremely high level of skill in the English language. It is recognised by many higher education institutions; you can work at a managerial or professional level or follow a course of academic study at university level.
We are looking forward to offering more CPE courses in the future.

Goodbye Tosajuku

It was sad to say goodbye to all our groups. The school seems very quite without the Japanese study tour students around. We were amazed at how good their English was, how fantastic the weather and how much fun all the activites were. There were lots of tears at the end, and that was just the teachers!

We hope to see you again next year.

Fantastic Cambridge Results

We are very happy to announce the results of the June Cambridge Examinations. 100% of our CAE students and 7 of our 8 FCE students passed their exams. For the last 10 years BBELS has helped more than 600 internationals students to pass the Cambridge Examinations. It is one of our most difficult courses.

We are proud of the quality of our exam preparation courses and of the talents of our teachers. Frank, the BBELS CAE coordinator, has taught at least 22 Cambridge Exam preparation courses at BBELS and Lisa has taught more than 10. Congratulations to all of our successful students. And remember English Only!!!
