Congratulations 19 jobs for students!

December 23, 2009 · Leave a Comment

We would like to congratulate the 19 students who got factory work. The school has an agreement with a local factory to get students work. However, the students need to have a high level of English to get the jobs. All the students have studied at school for a while and so their English level was good enough. Not only is it a great way to make money but also an excellent way to meet the locals (people who  live in Byron Bay), and to practise their English.

Gooodbye Saleh!

December 21, 2009 · Leave a Comment

We would like to say congratulations to Saleh Alsbhani who received the IELTS score he needed to study at University. Saleh was our first student from Saudi Arabia and he became very well know around the school. He studied twice at the school over a couple of years and was taught by the majority of teachers. So it was a sad day on Friday when he gave his graduation speech. However, he is going to study at university and we are sure he will enjoy his studies and do well.

December 10, 2009 · Leave a Comment

All four Cambridge classes finished their last exams on Wednesday. We had a special graduation on Wednesday with a lot of great speeches and a few tears. Friday night the students had a special BBQ at the cafe and they went out on the town. We wish them the best of luck for the future and hope to see them back in Byron Bay one day.

Daura’s Dance Class!

December 10, 2009 · Leave a Comment

This is a clip from last year when Daura, one of our Spanish students, decided to teach other students how to dance. These salsa classes were weekly. Other classes we have had this year are yoga with Claire – an experienced yoga instructor. Claire taught students and teachers how to relax and the sun salutation. We have also had Capoeira classes with Paula our fantastic Brazilian member of staff. These are just some of the after school activities students did at BBELS in 2009.
