Splendour in the Grass

images[1]It is that time of year again, when the party comes to Byron Bay. Splendour in the Grass is one of the best festivals in Australia. Now in its 9th year, Splendour returns on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July at Byron Bay’s Belongil Fields to present its yearly mid-winter music celebration. Tickets have already sold out but look in the Echo or ask Max. If you love music then this is a must see event. There will also be lots of other music playing around Byron Bay.

This year’s top picks are: MGMT, Janes Addiction, Flaming Lips and  Block Party. For the full line up go to  www.splendourinthegrass.com

Terrific Taiwanese Trio takes on Splendour in the Grass!

Congratulations: Yolanda, Stephanie and Sharon* for successfully completing their RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) on the weekend. They need the RSA to work at bars and restaurants in Australia. They all went along to the Splendour in the Grass meeting on Monday and they are happy to say that they all got jobs.

They will be joining Anita and Amy who already have jobs at Splendour.

English Only

All students are reminded that English should be used in all parts of the BBELS school building.  We believe that using English helps you to make new friends. Meeting people from other countries helps you to learn more about our world.

You should use English in:

  • the classrooms
  • the kitchen
  • the balconies
  • Oska cafe

Good luck!

Local Photographer

Mr. Peter Moore is a local photographer who spends some of his days photographing the natural beauty of Byron Bay. Like most locals, he thinks Byron Bay is one of the most beautiful locations in Australia. He loves the beaches (he’s a surfer!), the mountains, and the people that come visit Byron Bay. His favourite place is the Railway Friendly Bar. He also says that he sees many BBELS students enjoying a drink there.

Here are some of his favourite images of Byron Bay!
